Events
When you plan your trip to our little island, here’s a list of the major events each month:
January kicks off the year with the It May Be Cold Where You Are, But It’s Still Summer Here Party. Summer never ends on the Island of Wananuki.
February is of course the Mardi Gras Carnival. It’s always a big celebration. We may be thousands of miles from New Orleans, but we’re all brothers and sisters under the sun.
In March we have the Annual St Patrick’s Day Great Pub Crawl, and we do mean crawl! Let’s paint the island green!
April brings the Island Days Carnival for some traditional island fun.
In May, it’s the Fabulous Flip-Flop Beach Dance Marathon on Sunset Beach. We’ve invited Mitt Romney this year. We’ll see if he can attend. After all, he is a party animal.
June is a big month on the island with the Wananuki Invitational Surfing Championships, which will be televised on ESPN this year.
July brings the Annual Wananuki Cup Round-The-Island Yacht Race, which is always a local favorite.
In August we have what is probably the most important festival of the year, the annual Bula Festival. Bula means welcome and we love to welcome everyone to our island, our little slice of paradise!
In September we have the “Once A Year We Do Something Healthy” Wananuki Marathon. I’ve never actually finished the race myself. I can’t seem to get past the beer stand.
In October it’s the Day Of The Dead Festival, which is, of course, “to die for!”
November brings the Annual Harvest Festival, always a good time. Don’t miss the Million Mango March, the Coconut Races and the Wananuki Wine Awards!
And December is, of course, the Let’s Start New Year’s Early Masquerade Ball at the Starlight Ballroom of the Grande Hotel. That’s when the celebrities really invade the island.
